Biograde ®
The cutlery and drinking straws are made of biodegradable Cellulose Compounds which are innovative Cellulose blends.
Their range finds wide applications : manufacture of injection moulded parts, cast films and transparent and stretched films.
This class of bioplastics represents a perfect compromise between the opposing demands of effective biodegradability on the one hand and food resistance and high thermal stability on the other hand.
Biograde ® Compounds consist predominantly of renewable resources, but do not contain starch or starch derivatives.
Forks, knives & spoons:
Biograde ® 300A achieves in Vicat A test (DIN ISO 306) a temperature rating of 117°C which exceeds the value of standard polystyrene. Most biodegradable polymers usually "capitulate" at temperatures above 65°C. However we disadvise the use of hot runner systems because the material tends to freeze quickly if the flow front comes to a standstill.
Biograde ® 300A consists of more than 60% renewable resources. Biograde ® 300A fulfils the requirements of the European standard EN 13432 and is deemed to be a compostable compound.
Furthermore it is certified for food contact. Biograde ® 300A is registered as a compostable compound at DIN Certco; registered number 7W0072.
Drinking straws
Biograde ® 200C consists of 100% renewable resources.
It is an innovative transparent cellulose blend which is processable without problems on conventional extrusion lines to manufacture cast films which can be thermoformed to trays, cups and so on. Special properties are attainable by biaxial stretching.
At present certificates of compostability and food approval are not yet available.
